Blaze is alive!

April 16, 2026

I know everyone has been wondering and it’s been a long ten months, but Blaze is finally back up and running thanks to Jason! If you’ve kept up so far, then you know that we’ve been struggling to find parts for my 2015 Harley Davidson XG500 (Street 500). So, anybody out there looking to purchase a HD XG500 or HD XG750, just don’t do it!

As much as I love this little bike, it’s going to become more and more difficult to get parts. There just weren’t very many of them made by Harley Davidson and the majority of them were sold in Japan and Australia, making parts difficult to get especially in the U.S. The local dealer used these bikes for their riding courses until last year. Due to the same reason, they retired and sold them.

I bought this little bike two years ago and upgraded just about everything about it cosmetically, to change it’s appearance to match my personality. It only had 9k miles on it when I bought it, and I had only put about another 1k on it before it broke down. Jason tried his best to get it running and find parts, but ultimately we had to tow it into a motorcycle shop.

The shop couldn’t find parts either. After exhausting all efforts, and learning that some people have been waiting on the same backordered part for 3-5 years, we agreed to have the shop try to epoxy the intake boot (the part it needed). They wouldn’t ever suggest or recommend it unless it was a last ditch effort, which this was. I did some research in the FB groups I belong to with other owners, and I learned that everyone that has ordered this part, has been waiting for months to years. We gave up and gave our local motorcycle shop permission to try the epoxy. Well, guess what?! The epoxy worked. It’s holding for now, so I am going to ride it until it can’t go anymore. I hesitated and waited to post until I rode it a few times. So far, so good!

The photo on the right shows the part number, my boot before the epoxy and afterwards. Our local HD dealer told us the part is available for special order and would be here in a couple of weeks. Not hardly! Jason paid for the order and after a couple of weeks, we were told it’s on backorder, indefinitely. So, if you have this bike and are still waiting for the boot to come in, you can keep on waiting or have your local shop try the epoxy. No promises, but it was worth a try for us and it worked out. Thankfully!

Wouldn’t you know it?! The day Jason took me out to ride, right after getting Blaze back, it rained and rained on our way back home. We got lucky and dodged the rain and stopped under a gas station canopy until it stopped. We were able to ride for about an hour and a half before the downpour hit us. I love this little bike! Love it! Did I say how much I love my little bike? I know it’s just a matter of time though, before Blaze can’t go anymore. But until then, he’s gonna be my cute little back up boyfriend, Blaze. And I’m gonna ride as long as he can go. Of course, Jason is still my number one though!

Until next time! Ride safe!
