Jason and I usually ride with our friends on the weekends, but sometimes we enjoy solo date rides. Jason is really good with choosing places we haven’t been before. We’ve taken some short rides and even some hours long rides together. During the weekdays, he works full-time, so sometimes we’ll take a ride to dinner and catch the sunset. We’d been to Jug Creek Marina in Bokeelia on Pine Island, many times before, but apparently never on a Monday because they were closed on this date particular date night. Be sure to check their days and hours of operation if you decide to take a visit. The sky was beautiful and the sun was just starting to set when we arrived.
We thought it was strange that there weren’t very many cars in the parking lot, and no motorcycles, but we saw people going in and out of the little marina store, so we headed up to find a table. Once we got around to the back tiki, we realized they were closed, so we went into the store to inquire about their hours. The lady behind the counter told us that they were closed on Mondays (at that time), but that we were welcome to purchase a drink and a snack out of the store and sit at one of the tables if we wanted to. Of course we wanted to! That’s why we were there, to see the sunset! Jason grabbed us a couple of cold drinks and we headed to the back tiki area and sat at a table right next to the water, just as the sun was going down. We had the entire area to ourselves. Talk about an accidental, romantic date night… he pulled it off again without even trying!
It was a spectacular sunset and the perfect date night. We’ve been there a few times with our friends, but this time was definitely my favorite, even if we didn’t get any food! Since I’m vegan, there isn’t wasn’t anything I would eat anyway, but it is a restaurant and they serve a full menu. It is a marina, after all. 🙂 If you haven’t been, you’ll want to check it out!
